Within the World

North Carolina is a thriving coastal state on the United States’ Eastern Seaboard. Raleigh is the state capital and is served by Raleigh-Durham International Airport. NC State is home to more than 3,585 international students from 110 countries.

Within the East Coast

Raleigh is a major Southeastern city within easy reach of New York, Atlanta, Miami and Washington, D.C. Expect warm summers, mild winters and plenty of Southern hospitality.

Within North Carolina

From Raleigh’s central location, you can spend one weekend exploring the Atlantic coast and another heading toward the Appalachian Mountains. You’ll also be surrounded by cities, towns and destinations throughout the Triangle and across North Carolina.

Find Opportunity in the Research Triangle

NC State sits at the heart of one of the country’s leading regions for research, technology and innovation.

Raleigh is part of the Research Triangle, home to Research Triangle Park and a growing network of companies, startups, universities, research organizations and entrepreneurs. For NC State students, that means major opportunities aren’t found somewhere across the country. They’re happening right here.

Career Central

Did you know that Research Triangle Park is the largest research park in the country? It’s larger than Silicon Valley! Occupying more than 7,000 acres, it is home to more than 300 companies and 65,000 workers.

And some of those connections are located right in our backyard! NC State’s Centennial Campus brings together university researchers, students, companies, agencies and nonprofits, creating a space where academics, research and industry meet.

Companies across the globe seek out our career-ready graduates. But you don’t have to look far to find world-class opportunities.

Whether you’re looking for an internship, building professional connections or thinking ahead to your first job after graduation, Raleigh puts you close to a region full of possibilities.

Career Development Center

The Career Development Center at NC State supports individualized career coaching, helps students connect with employers and offers tools for exploring career paths and building essential job search skills.

Graduate students work in the Pulp and paper lab; in the department of Forest Biomaterials (CNR). The students are working in the Sustainable and Alternative Fibers Initiative. The Sustainable and Alternative Fibers Initiative (SAFI) is the major global university-industry partnership effort focused on researching, developing, and utilizing alternative fibers to manufacture a myriad of sustainable products.

Experience Raleigh Like a Student

Raleigh isn’t just where you’ll go to college. It’s where you’ll meet friends for dinner, discover your favorite study spot, spend an afternoon exploring, head to a game or concert and eventually start finding the places that feel like your own.

And because NC State is part of the city, you don’t have to choose between having a true campus experience and enjoying everything a growing city has to offer.

Make Raleigh Your Home

For many students, choosing NC State also means choosing a new city, sometimes from hundreds or even thousands of miles away from home.

That can feel like a big leap. But we know there’s something special about Raleigh, North Carolina, and you’ll discover that too.

Undergraduate student Mia Peterson came to NC State from California, thousands of miles away from home. Her story offers an honest look at what it can be like to choose a university far away, experience Raleigh for the first time and eventually find community here.

Step Outside and Touch Grass

There’s a reason Raleigh is known as the City of Oaks.

Green spaces, trails and outdoor destinations are woven throughout both NC State and the surrounding city, so getting outside doesn’t have to mean leaving Raleigh behind.

Court of North Carolina

The Court of North Carolina is one of the largest green spaces at NC State. It’s a place for leisurely picnics, outdoor lessons and the occasional snowball fight on a wintry day.
